Control Loops to Transform Stress into Self-Regulated Effort

Résumé:
The critical question that we consider in the present chapter is how—today in the twenty-first-century society—can we better understand the psycho-emotional mechanisms underlying motor performance and effort during physical activity and how we may guide individuals to self-regulate effort in order to (re)discover pleasurable experiences during physical activity. We aim to explore this question through the concepts of stress, tolerance to effort, and affective motor control loops that provide the bodily experiences required to create mental representations of the pleasure to move.
