The CONTINUUM project will create a human-centered collaborative research infrastructure of 30
platforms to advance interdisciplinary research between Computer Science and Human and Social
Sciences focusing on Visualization, Immersion, Interaction, Collaboration, Human representation,
Perception and Action coupling, Cognition, and Social issues. CONTINUUM will also empower scientists,
engineers and other users by complementing the current digital infrastructure of high-performance
computing and data centers with a network of high-performance visualization and immersive platforms to
observe, manipulate, understand and share digital data, real-time multi-scale simulations, and virtual or
augmented experiences. The ambitious goal of CONTINUUM is to enable a paradigm shift in how we
perceive, interact with and collaborate on complex digital data and digital worlds by putting humans at
the center of the data processing workflows.
